What is HPV vaccination?

The HPV vaccination is the injection of HPV vaccine for the protection against infection of certain HPV types. The vaccination is carried out as a series of 3 injections over a period of 6 months. It is most effective to have the vaccination completed before the commencement of sexual activities. The vaccine is considered safe and effective, and it offers at least five years of protection. Common side effects are mild and may include soreness, redness and swelling around the injection spot.
